Terms of Service

Cursed Screen for iOS · Last updated: October 2026

Cursed Screen is licensed to you under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add to that agreement; where the two differ, Apple's agreement applies. They match the Terms inside the app.

1. Licence & plans

Cursed Screen is free to use: rules, blocking, reminders and your usage are available to everyone, with no time limit. Cursed Screen Pro unlocks Focus Mode — a rule that cannot be paused, edited or unblocked while it is running — and is available as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. When Pro ends, your rules keep blocking; Focus Mode switches off until Pro is back.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID. Where a subscription offers a free trial, you will not be charged until the trial ends, and cancelling at least 24 hours before it ends means you are not charged at all; each Apple ID can take the free trial once. Subscriptions renew automatically at the price shown until you cancel; billing is handled by Apple, and you can manage or cancel anytime in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, with cancellation effective at the end of the current billing period — Pro stays on until then. Each renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the current period ends. A plan with no free trial is charged when you buy it.

Lifetime is a single one-time charge granting a perpetual, non-exclusive licence on your personal devices — no subscription, no renewal.

2. Focus Mode

Focus Mode is a commitment you choose to make. While a rule or Quick Block with Focus Mode on is running, the app will not let you pause, edit, delete or end it, remove apps or sites from your Cursed List, or pause blocking, until it ends at the time shown. Screen Time access always stays under your control: you can withdraw it at any time in iOS Settings › Screen Time, which lifts every block the app has set. Calls and messages are never blocked unless you put them on your Cursed List yourself.

3. Screen Time

Cursed Screen uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) to shield the apps and filter the websites on your Cursed List, and to display your usage. Apple never gives those numbers to the app: usage is rendered inside a sandboxed system extension which can show them but cannot export them. Screen Time access is granted by you and can be withdrawn at any time in Settings, which switches the reminders off.

4. Not a substitute for care

Cursed Screen is a self-discipline tool. It is not a medical device and not a treatment for any condition, and nothing in it is medical advice. If your phone use is causing you real distress, please talk to a professional.

5. No account, no collection

The app has no account and no server, and includes no analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Nothing you do in it is transmitted anywhere. The app does ask Apple's App Store whether a newer version is available, sending only the app's identifier and your country's store.

App updates. When a new version is available, the app may tell you with a notification, once per version. This is on by default and can be switched off in Settings › Notifications › App updates. Updating is always your choice; an older version keeps working.
