Privacy Policy
Cursed Screen for iOS · Last updated: October 2026
In short: Cursed Screen collects nothing. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no crash-reporting SDK, and the only service the app talks to is Apple's App Store. This is the iOS policy — the Android app is a different build and has its own, which does send anonymous analytics.
What we collect
Nothing. The only service the app talks to is Apple's App Store: for purchases and restores, and to check whether a newer version of Cursed Screen is available. That check sends Apple only the app's identifier and your country's store — nothing about you, your rules or how you use your phone — and Apple's own privacy policy covers it.
Your name
During setup the app asks for your first name, only so the messages on screen can use it. Giving it is optional — you can skip the question and everything works the same.
The name is never written down. It is held in memory for the length of that conversation and is gone the moment setup finishes: it is not saved to your device, not included in any backup, not sent anywhere, and not attached to any identifier. Close the app during setup and it is already forgotten.
Your screen time
The apps you curse are stored as Apple's opaque Screen Time tokens. They identify nothing outside your phone, and not even this app can read the names behind them.
Your usage numbers are never handed to the app at all. Apple renders them inside a sandboxed system extension that can draw a chart but cannot pass a single value back to us — which is why the app can show you a graph and still not know what is on it.
What lives on your device
Your rules, your streak history, and your cursed app and website lists are kept in the app's private storage, shared only with the app's own extensions. Nothing in it leaves the phone, and deleting the app deletes all of it.
Notifications
Reminders, streak and app-update notifications are created on the device itself. There is no push server, and no notification is ever sent by us or by anyone else. To tell you about a new version while the app is closed, the app uses iOS background refresh to run the App Store check above now and then. Every kind of notification can be switched off in the app's Settings › Notifications.
Children
Cursed Screen is not directed at children under 13 and knowingly collects no data from anyone. Since the app collects nothing from any user, there is nothing it could collect from a child.
Changes
This policy may be updated; the date above marks the current version.
